An email odyssey
What can I do when the most gorgeous man I’ve ever seen looks up at me as I walk around the rock? Gaze at him, sitting bare-chested in the hot sun, frozen to the spot. As he prepares to leave, sit helplessly while a voice in my head says clearly: “He’s the man you’ve been looking for, and he’s walking away!”. Spend five months plucking up the courage to scour the web to discover who he is.
This is the story of my discovery told in the emails we exchanged; the exploration of what a relationship can be, and eventually, a meeting.
The book begins with the advertisement that appeared on a climbing website and the forum postings that it generated, then it moves on to the personal exchange of emails that ensued for the following 4 months. It was a real adventure. It took courage, resolve and self-examination.
The format encouraged an open sharing of ideas. The decision to delay meeting enabled the developments of intimacy: ideas, feelings, new perspectives, acknowledgement of fears, hopes, desires and a healing of past relationship experience; a level of expression couples rarely achieve.
