LIVING IN THE PRESENT
“THE POINT OF POWER IS IN THE PRESENT MOMENT”
The antidote to living in fear, with nervousness about what might happen is to live in the present. At the present moment I am always beginning the rest of my life with the opportunity to change what has happened before if I want to enough. To do this I need to learn that I create what happens by the decisions I make. Life is a two-way process of interaction, so I need to learn that I have power. I also need to be willing to change; the way things have always been done feels secure but it may not suit me. I need to find other people to help me with this. I need to reassure my Inner Child that I will take care of her even though she is unhappy about me trying new ideas. I can do this while I am afraid, and by doing so become less afraid. Once I have begun life with a new attitude I will find that life is on my side and helpful things will happen to encourage me. By making a statement and being committed to moving forward I will find that it is already happening. By being open I am allowing new possibilities to emerge. I may need to talk to myself encouragingly, to answer the critical voice which reminds me of the mistakes I have made before: “I know I chose the wrong way last time but I’ve learned and I’m not the same person as I was then, and that mistake has been a lesson and shown me what I don’t want”. For suggestions and the use of the technique of affirmation see books by Sondra Ray e.g. “I Deserve Love” and Louise Hay “You Can Heal Your Life”. | ||
